Newly crowned WBO Africa Super Bantamweight champion, Wasiru “Gyata Bi” Mohammed, has been handed a chance to annex the Commonwealth super bantamweight championship by challenging title holder, Ashley Lane, during the fifth edition of the “Bukom Fist of Fury” at the Bukom Boxing Arena on December 7.
Wasiru (11-0, 10 KOs), who dethroned Isaac Sackey to snatch the WBO Africa super bantamweight crown with a controversial knockout victory, is in a good position to continue his progress as he aims to land a world title shot by the end of next year.
According to a former president of the GBA, Moses Foh-Amoaning, the fight has been confirmed to take place in Accra next month after a fruitful discussion with the Commonwealth Boxing Council.
According to Mr Foh-Amoaning, Simon Block, the Honorary Secretary of the Commonwealth Boxing Council, would visit Ghana to lecture on boxing promotions and management, as well as present the title belt to be fought for.
“I can confirm to you that Wasiru Mohammed will be fighting for the Commonwealth super bantamweight title on the fifth edition of the Bukom Fist of Fury Fight on December 7, 2018.
Everything has been confirmed and Wasiru will be fighting British boxer Ashley Lane for the title. I have spoken to Simon Block and he will visit Ghana to lecture on boxing promotion and management as well as present the title for the fight,” he disclosed.
The undefeated hard-hitting Wasiru has been in splendid form, having knocked out his last three opponents Kamarudeen Boyefio to announce his presence, Raymond Commey to win the national title and Isaac Sackey to win the WBO Africa title.
Now he wants to add Lane to his list of victims on December 7 in an international bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
