On June 4, 1994, Ghana’s Ike Quartey won the WBA world welterweight title courtesy eleventh-round TKO over Venezuela’s Crisanto Espana.
The Ghanaian was a heavy underdog in this battle of undefeateds.
They battled each other from round one to ten, but “Bazooka” wouldn’t be denied, ending affairs with a 14-punch salvo in the eleventh.
Quartey’s triumph was Ghana’s fourth title world title after D.K. Poison, Azumah Nelson and Nana Yaw Konadu.
