Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe and Russia’s Fedor Papazov are set to go for purse bid after both camps failed to reach an agreement.
After Papazov defeated Howik Bebraham in an IBO eliminator last March, the sanction body notified Tagoe (IBO lightweight champion) to defend his crown against the Russian no later than June 15th, 2018.
The IBO gave the two camps a month to reach an agreement or purse bid would be ordered.
However, the two camps have failed to reach an agreement and the IBO will be fixing a date for the purse bid.
The fight will be Tagoe’s second defense of his strap – he won the belt in December 2016 courtesy a unanimous decision against South Africa’s Mzonke Fana.
On January 27th, 2018, the James Town native made his first defense of his belt after stopping Argentina’s Fernando David Saucedo in round 10.
