Scary: Callum Smith knocks out Lenin Castillo in frightening style

British fighter Callum Smith prodiced a frightening knockout in the second round of his clash with Lenin Castillo at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Saturday evening.

The former WBA super-middleweight world champion made his return to the ring for the first time since his unanimous decision loss – the first of his career – to pound-for-pound No.1 fighter Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez last year.

In his debut at light heavyweight, it was an explosive performance from Mundo, who edged out Castillo early in North London.

A devastating right hand over the top sent Castillo crashing to the canvas on the Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk undercard.

The 33-year old was completely out of it and started shaking while laying on his back in some scary scenes.

Many had said Smith’s stoppage was the knockout of the year so far and Sky Sports did not show a replay of the sickening shot on their coverage.

Medical personnel attended to Castillo very quickly and he was taken away on a stretcher following the knockout.

Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn confirmed that the Dominican was conscious and responsive, with Sky adding he was transported to hospital as a precaution.

Nevertheless, it was a quite incredible statement sent out from Smith, who now has his sights on becoming a two-weight world champion in the near future.
