Confirmed ….the much awaited date for the IBF world title fight between Ghana’s own Richard Commey and Russia’s Isa Chaniev is set on February 2nd 2019 in Frisco Texas.
At stake is the vacant IBF world lightweight title which was previously owned by Mikey Garcia before he vacated it early in the month after consistently avoiding Richard Commey.
This exclusive was revealed to BoxingGhana.com by a credible source close to Richard Commey and was part of the negotiation team.
“Just so you all know Richard Commey will be fighting Isa Chaniev of Russia for the vacant IBF world lightweight title on February 2nd in Frisco Texas, more news to follow.” The source quoted.
For most Ghanaian’s this may come as good news as many feared a déjà vu should the bout had gone outside the shores of the states. But kudos to team Commey for a fantastic work done.
