Ghana’s Richard Commey will take on Mikey Garcia for the IBF World lightweight belt later this year.
Commey, who is IBF number 1 contender was to fight now former champion Robert Easter Jr. but the latter opted to engage in a unification fight against Garcia, who holds the WBC World lightweight strap.
The unification fight between Garcia-Easter happened last Saturday in Los Angeles and Garcia won via a unanimous decision after dropping Easter in round three.
With Garcia adding the IBF lightweight belt to his collections, he will now face his mandatory opponent Commey.
The hard hitting Ghana earned the opportunity to challenge for the World belt after stopping Alejandro Luna last March in their IBF eliminator clash.
In order to stay active before going in for his World title fight, Commey will take on Yardly Cruz in a lightweight contest on August 4th.
