Former IBF world champion Richard Oblitey Commey since his last fight with Teofimo Lopez is ready again to claim his title back with the mission beginning on February 13 at The Bubble, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, against his Dominican opponent Jackson ‘El Fenix’ Marinez.
Two time champions are fighters who never gave up and Richard Commey is poised to reach that height beginning the journey with Jackson Marinez (19-1,7KOs) who’s only defeat came last year against current number 1 on the WBA lightweight ranking Rolando Romero in a WBA Interim World Light Title fight.
In a chat I had with the CEO of Streetwise Management, Micheal Amoo-Bediako Snr, who also manages Richard Commey, he disclosed that Commey is ready for the fight despite few restrictions posed amidst the covid pandemic
“Obviously because of the pandemic everyone has to take extra care and there have been restrictions in regarding where to train but Richard and his team have coped well with it and everything has gone according to plan”
He continued,
“Richard is very well prepared, he has been training hard with trainers Andre Rozier and Gary Stark and has also been doing a lot of strength and conditioning with Dave Honig (Scooter), Richard has also been receiving some very good sparring with some top prospects in the United States so he is ready!!!”
The top notch manager have asked for prayers for victory come fight night to make Ghana proud.
Its 8 days to the day of battle and we wish Richard Commey nothing but a convincing win to send a clear message to the title holder.
For many and especially connoisseurs of the game, this is a career defining moment for the former International Boxing Federation lightweight world champion.
