Ghana’s Rafael Mensah has lost his number one position in the latest World Boxing Association (WBA) ranking released for July.
The Ghanaian last month was ranked number one and that earned him a shot at the super featherweight World title held by Puerto Rico’s Alberto Machado.
Two weeks ago, Mensah exercised that right against Machado but failed to win Ghana’s ninth world title.
The Ghanaian was brush aside by the champion as he lost via a unanimous decision in a fight which took place in USA.
However, that lost has affected Mensah’s position in the latest WBA rankings.
The James Town native has dropped five places down, meaning he is now ranked number 6.
