President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Isaac Dogboe after the latter’s win over Japan’s Hidenori Otake last Saturday in USA.
Dogboe made his first defence of his WBO strap after stopping Otake in round one.
The Ghanaian hard puncher dropped the Japanese warrior twice en-route the stoppage. Following the win, the President took to his Twitter page to heaped praises on the young fighter.
He tweeted, “Warm congratulations to the Royal Storm, Isaac Dogboe, on his successful defense of his WBO Super Bantamweight title, against Hidenori Otake. The Ghanaian people are proud of him, and wish him the very best of luck in the future.”
Dogboe first won the belt last April after dethroning then champion Jessie Magdaleno. The 23-year-old hard puncher destroyed the Mexican in round 11.
The win made Dogboe the youngest world champion to come from Ghana.
Immediately after Otake’s win, Dogboe called out WBA world super bantamweight Danny Roman.
“I knew i will stop Otake and i have done it. My next aim is a unification fight and i’m ready for it,” he said. “Danny Roman wherever you are i’m ready for you. Come out and let us rumble.”
Dogboe is a former Olympian, he competed for Ghana at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
