One of the hottest division in boxing (lightweight) is about to witness another arduous fight between the undefeated WBC Interim world Light king Ryan Garcia (21-0,18KOs) and Javier Fortuna come July 9 in a yet to be announced venue after a deal was agreed and to be aired live on DAZN.
The undefeated young American who is just 22 will be defending his WBC Interim World Light title for the first time against the experienced Domincan Javier Fortuna (36-2-1, 25KOs) after knocking out Luke Campbell early this year.

Before this fight got sealed, Garcia was eyeing for a showdown to Gervonta Davis or Manny Pacquiao but none materialized.
It must be noted that Garcia’s win over Campbel in January this year made him a top lightweight contender and must not be underrated one bit.
And this is evident in the eyes of his promoter Oscar De La Hoya, chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions

“And the only way to keep doing that is by continually facing tougher challenges. Javier Fortuna is an experienced southpaw who can be very slippery when he wants to avoid punches.
“It’s a dangerous fight for Ryan, but I expect him to show newer elements in his arsenal before ending matters by knockout.”
Javier Fortuna, 31, who held the WBA World Super Featherweight title only came close to a lightweight title after losing to Robert Easter Jr via split decision in a IBF world light title contest back in January 2018. Javier ‘El Abejon’ Fortuna has since that lost been undefeated in his last 4 fights to get this interim title shot with Garcia.
This important fight will likely give the winner an opportunity to face winner of Haney vs Linares slated for May 29th at the Michelob Ultra Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
