Magdaleno’s Manager Replies Dogboe’s Matchmaker

Jessie Magdaleno’s manager Frank Espinoza has replied Isaac Dogboe’s matchmaker Mike Altamura.

Altamura is concerned that Magdaleno will not be able to make weight for the fight.

I’ve asked for there to be extreme conditions if (Magdaleno) doesn’t make weight and we’ll counter-sign the same conditions,” Altamura said. “Bob Arum suggested to me maybe the punishment is 12 lashes. I said to him,’Well, in 1788 there was a ruling by the United States government that if somebody practices witchcraft that they’d get 15 lashes. I figure allowing for time differences – and not making weight is a lot worse than witchcraft – that there should be 122 lashes to Jesse and 122 to his manager, Frank Espinoza, if he doesn’t make weight.”

Espinoza, on the other hand, has no concerns about his fighter making the weight limit.

“I just want Mr. Altamura to know that he doesn’t have to worry about Jesse making the 122-pound limit, OK? He’ll be in fine physical condition and ready to defend his title. The reality is that every time there’s been a world title fight – he’s made weight with no problem,” Espinoza told BoxingScene.com on Thursday afternoon.”

”Let’s just hope that his guy is ready for the best fighter he’s ever faced in the ring,” continued Espinoza, who spent a week in Mexico as Magdaleno participated in a training camp alongside another Espinoza client, Oscar Valdez, who defends his WBO 126-pound title on March 10th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

“I’m not concerned about Jessie, he was really working hard and focused on working hard. He knows what’s at stake.”
