Former IBO World Bantamweight champion Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko (38-5, 28KOs) is set to face another former World Champion (IBF Bantamweight) Paul Butler (32-2, 15KOs) for the vacant WBO International Bantam title on June 25, 2021 at the Bolton Whites Hotel (formerly De Vere Whites), Bolton, Lancashire, UK.
The Ghanaian knockout artist has been off for about six months now, nevertheless, he has kept his shape with various training sessions which included sparring with the qualified boxers from the Ghana national boxing team, The Black Bombers.
Hoping to clinch another world title, Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko had been handed another chance at the vacant WBO International Bantamweight title against Paul Butler.
Nicknamed the ‘Baby face assassin’, Paul Butler an English professional boxer born on the 11th of November, 1988 held the IBF bantamweight title in 2014 and challenged for the IBF super-flyweight title in 2015. He also held multiple regional titles, including the British and Commonwealth super-flyweight titles in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
He won the WBO Inter-Continental Super Flyweight title by defeating Miguel González in September 2013 and later won the WBA Inter-Continental Super Flyweight title by defeating Ruben Montoya. Paul ‘Baby face assassin’ Butler has recorded 34 bouts with 32 wins and 15 out of the 32 by was of KO’s.
Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko on the other hand has 43 bouts to his belt with 5 defeats and 28 bouts by way of KO’s. Born on the 22nd of March 1980, Agbeko was a two time former Bantamweight world champion, he also held the Commonwealth Bantamweight title and the IBO Bantamweight title.
With the experience from both sides, Joseph ‘King Kong’ Agbeko and Paul ‘Baby face assassin’ Butler have promised fireworks on the 25th of June 2021 as MTK Global has set the ball rolling.
