Ghana’s Isaac ‘royal storm’ Dogboe will be seeking a cleansing journey in his career as he battles Mexican favorite and Law degree holder-Caesar Juarez for the WBO Interim super Bantamweight title at the Bukom Boxing arena come January 6, 2018.
Pundits of the pugilist industry are already skeptical about the outcome of the fight with timid reference to the fight record of the tough battling Mexican.
The “royal storm” has already belittled himself to the “David and Goliath” episode in the bible referring to his opponent as the “Goliath”.
This is quite of a psychological intrepidity on the part of the Ghanaian who has perhaps perused the records of the mean Mexican pugilist who boasts of an enviable record of (20-5, 15KOs) and by sheer happenstance fought durable opponents than the former.
Dogboe, now stands (17-0, 11 Kos), quite a respectable record as well. But the question that lingers is credibility of his previous opponents.
The likes of Andy Harris, Ronald Rodriguez, Raymond Ansah, Aminu Turkson, Oblitey Commey, Joseph Adu, George Krampah, Michael Pappoe, Julian Aristule, John Tabanoa and Javier Chacon have all been described as “second tier performers”.
I believe you would agree with me that the “royal storm” had a bitter storm against John Tabanoa. And on many occasions fans were sitting on tenterhooks. Tabanoa was just solid and a delight to watch.
The Mexican Juarez has a 60% knockout ratio and is potentially deadly on counter punches. On paper, It is seemingly unquestionable the kind of ‘credible’ boxers he has fought.
The likes of Manuel Barreto, Ceasar Rojas, Ceasar Hernandez and most recently against the Filipino flash-Nonito Donaire- for the vacant WBO world International Super Bantamweight title, losing on a brilliant note.
Juarez made his name in boxing prints when he came up against the Filipino Flash-Nonito Donaire on December 11th, 2015 and exhibited tremendous heartbeat against the Filipino.
His punch- resistance to keep coming at his opponent was a delight to watch and that fight undoubtedly took the acolade “fight of the year.”
The 4 division weight champion after the fight in San Juan Puerto Rico testified-“the guy was amazing. The guy was strong. I give it to him. I think that was the toughest fight I’ve ever been in my life.”
There was a gash above his left eye and the right eye heavily swollen from the battering he took from Juarez on the ropes. Donaire was totally gassed and gasping.
If an opponent who appeared one punch away from being knocked out can come back and trash Donaire’s face then the future of this very fight is ‘prayers’.
In fact, he sent and wobbled Donaire to the floor in the 10th round. But it was ruled a slip.
His last fight was against yet another unbeaten Filipino, Barrier-Eugene Lagos on April 1st, 2017 whom he knocked down in 3 rounds, rendering him unconscious.
The Mexican was stunned in the first round yet came back to knock the Filipino out in cold.
Until recently, he was billed to fight unbeaten WBO super Bantamweight Champion of the World- Jesus Gabriel Magdaleno but that fight couldn’t materialize because of injury on the part of the champion.
CHANCES: DOS AND DON’T S
Ghana has been thirsty for a world champion for a very long time and many are of the opinion that this is the opportune time for such a script to be written.
From a technical point of description, the fight could be a close call and most definitely will breed a knockout or many knockdowns.
The winner on the day has to posses the heart of a Siberian tiger.
It is difficult to disagree with the overwhelming standpoint of most pundits and insiders that the Ghanaian will chew a bitter pill- but ring display and emotions are two different ingredients.
The Ghanaian must employ sublime footwork and avoid the toe-to-toe banter with the deadly Mexican. The latter is a great counter puncher and meanders through blood to come up against his opponents.

Dogboe’s rapier punches could however be a surprise present for the visitor as well.
Dogboe has a style in the ring. He approaches stealthily at his opponents. Most at times leaving the ventilation of his face vulnerable. He needs to avoid that.
The Ghanaian needs to up his game in stamina acquisition. He needs to do boxing than brawling with the Mexican. We saw what Tabanoa did to him a couple of times. For sure, the crowd will be in attendance.
The chants and boos for the visitor is imminent but cannot be the determinant factor in who wins the day. Stamina and better mastered ring control is key.
Caesar Juarez is excessively brilliant at delivering sniper shots especially at his stationary opponents. Isaac Dogboe should be consciously wary of that and back off from the Mexican. If he is able to mentally focus on his constant jabs to accrue enough points build up, it will be better.
The infant idea of going to knock out Juarez will be too elementary and premature and perhaps costly.
Ghana needs the belt. Lateral movement and speed coupled with occasional rib shots from the Ghanaian –which has been his trademark could win the day for Ghana.
Jesus Magdaleno is sitting comfortably and will be watching this Bukom chapter closely because the winner will surely have a date with him.
