IBA establishes Ad hoc Communication Committee to liaise with the IOC

Lausanne, Switzerland – The IBA Board of Directors has taken the decision to create an IBA Ad hoc Communication Committee which was specifically formed to establish a better channel of communication between the organization and the IOC.

 

The newly established Committee is composed of representatives from all continents including the five Presidents of IBA’s Confederations that have an excellent understanding of their continents and situation within their member federations. To complement their involvement in the Committee, Mr Jinqiang Zhou, IBA Board Member and Chinese Deputy Minister of Sport, Mr Ajay Singh, IBA Vice President and President of the Boxing Federation of India, and Mr George Yerolimpos, IBA Secretary General & CEO, will also participate in the Committee.

The Committee held its first meeting on 1 May 2023 to discuss the communication strategy to ensure the most efficient way to deliver the latest updates and establish a channel of dialogue.

 

The IBA Ad hoc Communication Committee has requested a personal meeting with an IOC representative in order to improve relations between the parties and to find a common solution for the reinstatement of IBA’s recognition within the Olympic family.
