Current WBO Africa Champ Emmanuel has set his sights on winning the world title next year 2019.
He revealed this special ambition when he granted boxing Ghana’s Samuel Ofosuhene an exclusive interview at his training GYM in Osikan in Jamestown- Accra.
“I am going to win the world title in 2019, that is more than a fact. I am very certain about that ambition. I am feverishly and fiercely preparing to meet that ambition.” Gameboy Stated.
With a record of 30 fights, a single defeat, 217 rounds of boxing with 29 wins, the most decorated boxer in recent times is really poised to fight the best in order to achieve that status.
“I really want to fight the best out there, a shot at Lomachenko won’t be bad at all, I really want to fight him. I hope he gives me the opportunity” Tagoe stated.
Tagoe is set to defend his WBO belt that he won against former world champion from a Namibian decent Moses “the hitman” Paulus.
He retired Moses Paulus even with an injured fist by out-punching the experienced fighter over twelve rounds via a unanimous points decision at the Bukom Boxing Arena in October of this year.
“Emmanuel Tagoe is a very good boxer, let’s support him to make Africa proud.” Moses Paulus told BoxingGhana after the bout.
In our extensive interview with Moses Paulus after the defeat, he was very emphatic on Emmanuel Tagoe.
“He can really make Africa proud. He is a very smart boxer with good ring generalship. He needs good technical handlers on his finishing and he would be perfect. Also he needs the support of Africans ,You know, we are all brothers.. you know. I tipped him to go far with his boxing career.” Moses Paulus told.
Emmanuel Tagoe is seriously training for his next bout which is christened 26 January 2019 barring any changes and the boxer is very upbeat about his chances.
“I know that I am the best in the lightweight division…. I have said it time and again.” Tagoe stated.
The possibility of Tagoe versus Commey is real should Richard Commey defeats Isa Chaniev of Russia come Saturday the 2nd of February 2019, but certainly a subject for another day.
