Ghana’s George Ashie (28-4-1, 20 KOs) will travel to Glasgow, Scotland, to face Britain’s Stephen Ormond 25-5, 13 KOs), Ashie’s promoter, MTK Global, has confirmed.
The fight will come off on August 24th at the Emirates Arena and it will be televised by Box Nation.
It will be a test fight for Ashie who want to be recognized as one of the best lightweight fighters in the world and to beat Ormond he must dig deep to achieve that feat.
Following Ashie’s loss to compatriot Emmanuel Tagoe in 2014, the former’s career took a nose dive.
However, the Bukom native’s career is now back on track as he is ranked number 14 by the WBO after claiming the vacant WBO interim Africa lightweight belt following his majority decision win over Michael Mokoena last April.
Ormond, 35, is 2-2 (won two and lost 2) in his last four bouts. His last bout was against Nelson Altamirano which he won via unanimous decision.
Ormond is a former WBO European lightweight champion, a belt he won in 2013.
