Garcia-Campbell fight agreed in principle but purse bid postponed
The interim WBC lightweight title fight between Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell is set for november with purse and venue to be determine later on a scheduled date.
Golden boy and Matchroom, promoters of Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell respectively has agreed in principle to take the fight.
Accordding to the WBC on August 11, through a zoom conference with the promoters of the boxers, both parties have agreed and confirm they have reach agreement to the material terms of the fight but requested a seven-day (7) period in order to work out the details and sign the corresponding contracts.
Muaricio Sulaimán the President of the WBC also offered the WBC’s absolute support, understanding and flexibility to make sure all the details of that much-anticipated bout are properly arranged in light of COVID-19 pandemic.
As to whether the fight will be staged under a limited crowd or without a crowd, the zoom conference did not discussed no such thing.
The WBC has it’s Franchise belt controlled by Vasily Lomachenko with it’s regular belt comfortably strapped by Devin Haney. The winner of the Garcia-Campbell bout will have a crack at the lightweight regular title with Devin Haney.
