DOGBOE:
Well, with an enviable record inside the robes as a 24 year old pugilist, DOGBOE is indisputably one hell of a boxer Ghana can pride itself with in recent times.
I do recall when I met this young chap with his Dad inside the plush Kempiski edifice, you would hardly believe he would become a world champion in future. He wore a big black suit, visibly bigger than him and looked humble. He extended his hands and shook me with a firm grip. I realised he never dealt in concrete works. My God, I felt my hands sink in his palm and yet he let out an infectious smile. That was a near high level meeting we had ahead of his test fight with Philipino troublemaker John Neil Tabanao.
Now DOGBOE is a world ruler in the superbantamweight division.
Chronicling his previous achievements over time keeps me boring but for the purposes of the records we need to reminisce on all that.
When DOGBOE stormed Ghana in his early announcement on the revival of Ghana boxing, many never believed in him. In all his native engagements against the likes of Raymond Ansah,Aminu Turkson, John Oblitey Commey, Joseph Adu, George Krampah, he scored a sweeping TKO on all of them with exception of Michael Pappoe who proved a cucumber stubborness moving through the distance with the Royal Storm.
Dogboe’s star shone clearly when he defeated visiting Cesar Juarez at the Bukom Boxing arena. Great fight it was. Indeed even before that hangar,DOGBOE had not impressed against notorious Phillipino,John Neil Tabanao at the same bukom enclave.
But with a classroom lesson and persistent mental decisions in the ring against Julian Evaristo Aristule and Javier Chacon, he surmounted the task against Cesar Juarez.
The Juarez fight was superb. The Mexican is a trader and his 5th round stoppage at the hands of the Zion has been a mystery to him ever since.
What perhaps solidified my analytical vision on this impending fight was how DOGBOE established dominance over the much rated Jesus Magdaleno. My word!!.
His first defense of the WBO super bantamweight leather against aging Japanese journey man Hidenori Otaki is not even worth analysing.
His financial fortunes will soar so long as he remains champion. A lot of boxers have called out DOGBOE since he became champion. But I think after a 2 year long reign he must dictate the pace.
Emanuel Navarrette is perhaps the unlucky candidate to witness the fistic fury of the smiling Royal storm.
EMANUEL NAVARETTE:
The mean Mexican has a rich CV of 25 fights, with 22 KOs, crediting him with an astonishing 85% ratio when it comes to knockouts.
“Vaquero” – as he is nicknamed, is 23 years of age and cannot be underestimated. Nope. And he actually intends to put some smiles on the faces of his native Mexicans on DEC 8th when his fantasies draws him into believing he would be the new!
Generally, Mexico needs no introduction in boxing. They have produced over 179 world champions and ranks 2nd worldwide between countries with most boxing world champions.
The likes of Daniel Zaragoza in 1985, Louis Espinoza in 1987, Raul Perez in 1988, ring legend and hall of famer Erik “el terrible” Morales, in 1997, Oscar Larious and the likes.
I cannot forget recent dictators – Oscar Valdez, Gilberto Ramirez, Leo Santa Cruz and hidden nemesis, Rey Vargas.
Mexican boxers are deadly. And they possess the prototypical Mexican style in knockouts predicated upon calculated rhythms. A sure by now you are refreshing your memories on Mario Azabache Martinez, Marcos Villasana etc.
FIGHT ANAYLSIS:
This is a serious defense of a title for the “Royal Storm ” in all fairness.
Statistics on paper and in physicality transcends beyond any lose skepticisms that its gonna be an easy fight.
Both boxers possess refined fistic power. Both can brawl. The KO indicators are very imminent and anything could happen.
DOGBOE believes in the rib wear- down of his opponents. He hits harder with accurate grimmage.
The age factor will sure favour both boxers.
For the first time in my predictive stance, this fight will be won in the dressing room.
NAVARETTE had a stellar outing against Colombian Jose Sanmartin June this year with a late 12 round knockout. Even earlier in Breilor Teran in January this same year it was yet another vintage TKO for the witty Mexican.
5 fights inside 2017 were all knockouts victories for the 23 year old hard hitter.
Mind games few hours to the fight would play a role in analysing this fight. The war of words from both camps is needed to draw the needless anger from the Mexican camp.
DOGBOE’s trainer and Dad is very good at that. The reality is to retain that belt. Period.
Boxing pundits might be short of superlative descriptions after this fight.
PREDICTIONS:
Boxingghana has analyzed this bout and the result is average.
The fight will see a knockout from either side with the Ghanaian on the higher scales. Beyond round 6, this prediction should manifest.
The Royal storm has no excuses in defending this version of his strap. He needs to do it.
A win for Dogboe nonetheless. For real.
