Samuel Takyi’s win in the quarter finals of the Featherweight boxing division at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics lit up the streets of Accra as the environs of Bukom among others set a carnival to celebrate his victory.

His win however isn’t celebrated by himself as has been by many as he recounts how he planned with his teammates to all mount the podium in their various divisions to receive their Olympic medals.

In an exclusive video shared with BoxinGhana.com, Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi had a few words to Ghanaians and the world, he states,

“I feel good, I feel very happy, and you know, firstly I give thanks to God for what he has done for me, and you know I am happy but not too much happy because the competition has not yet ended.

I have already told Ghanaians that I am going to bring a gold medal and God has helped me enter the medal zone so what I will tell them is that they should keep praying for me and you know I am in the semifinals now so they should keep on praying for me, I am going to make it there and go to the final and we will see what God will do. But they should keep on supporting me and praying for me and I will bring the gold to Ghana.”

With his semifinal bout against a professional boxer representing the United Stated of America in the person of Duke Regan, it is going to be another explosive encounter. With both fighters mentally prepared and ready, it will take stamina and endurance and one who can adopt in the early stages to make a name for himself.

Duke Regan who hasn’t lost yet in his professional boxing career with a 4-0-1 record would want to hold on to his clean slate as the ‘Ring Warrior’ who has a promise to keep and Ghana on his mind readying himself to clinch Gold for self and country.

Ghana rallies behind Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi in his exploits and wish him all the best as support and prayers roll in from Ghana and fans across the globe.
