Group Managing Director of Matchroom Sport Eddie Hearn has taken a swipe at WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder for asking for 40 percent of the purse in order to fight Anthony Joshua.
He furiously stated
” It’s boring, boring, Deontay Wilder wants 60/40..? Fu*k off, you haven’t earned three million bucks.”
“You could walk down any street in the world and ask anyone who Deontay Wilder is, nobody has a fu**ing clue.” Eddie mocked.
The promoter further made a damning statement on Wilder even questioning his capacity to attract per per view customers.
“He isn’t going to do 300 buys on Showtime PPV and he wants 60/40, idiot. Don’t waste our time.” The English promoter concluded.
But the self styled pugilist nicknamed the ‘black bomber’ took exception to Eddie’s comments and re-echoed his market stock.
“We’re not focused on them, we’re not even concerned about them.
“When was the last time we even said anything about them? Wilder questioned rhetorically.
The American heavyweight fighter further staked a claim for himself as a knockout artiste.
“I don’t need him to bring status to me. My status came to me because I knock people out, not because of another man.”Deontay Wilder Said.
Remember, Wilder has won 39 out of his 40 career fights by TKO’s and is set to fight a former unified world champion in Tyson Fury who is also undefeated come Saturday the 1 of December 2018.
Truth be told, many boxing fans are beginning to doubt if this fight(Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder) is ever going to materialised.
