Duke Micah Set To Fight For Interim WBO World Belt

Ghana’s Duke Micah is set to fight for the interim WBO bantamweight belt, Boxingghana.com understands.

The former Olympian who is the number one contender for the WBO belt held by South Africa’s Zolani Tete return to the ring before the end of this year for the aforementioned belt.

In confirming the news, Micah’s manager Michael Amoo-Bediako said because Zolani Tete is busy competing in the ongoing World Boxing Super Series (WBSS), he will write to the WBO for the interim belt.

“Now Duke Micah is the number one contender so we will be writing to the WBO for the interim belt. The champion Zolani Tete is currently busy competing in the WBSS,” he said in an interview.

He added that Micah will face the next available contender who is Ricardo Espinoza Franco, a Mexican.

Micah’s last outing in the ring was four months ago when he decisioned Thomas Snow to defend his WBC international bantamweight belt.

For Franco, his last fight was two months ago which he defeated Daniel Lozano via TKO.
