Ghanaian boxer, Daniel Lartey, is expected to travel to South Africa to face Emmany Kalambo for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) vacant Africa super welterweight title slated for December 16.
Lartey will have the chance to become a continental champion if he can defeat Kalambo of DR Congo in an expected tough clash at the International Convention Centre in East London, South Africa.
The bout dubbed ‘Best of the Best’ is being promoted by Xaba Promotions in partnership with Premier Hotels and Supersport.
Confirming the fight to Graphic Sports Online, manager of Lartey, Evans Berne Johnson, said it was time for his boxer to conquer Africa and they were working towards achieving that.
Mr Johnson noted that Team Lartey was scheduled to depart Ghana for South Africa tomorrow in order to allow the boxer acclimatizes to the weather before the fight.
“The fight is on and we believe it was time for Lartey to conquer Africa and that is exactly what we are working towards on December 16 in South Africa.
“We will leave on Thursday to South Africa so that he can acclimatize to the weather before fight night,” he said.
Having won 14 fights in 17 professional bouts with a draw, Lartey is hopeful of annexing the continental crown towards a bid to entering the ratings.
His opponent, Kalambo, a hard-hitting puncher with 13 knockouts victories in as many bouts remains a threat to the Ghanaian’s quest to earn the African belt.
