The purse bid between Ghana’s Richard Commey and America’s Mikey Gracia has been scheduled to come off on September 25th.
On Aug. 13, the IBF ordered unified lightweight world titleholder Mikey Garcia (39-0, 30 KOs), 30, of Moreno Valley, California, to begin negotiations with mandatory challenger Richard Commey (27-2, 24 KOs), 31.
However, they did not make a deal by the IBF deadline, so last Thursday the organization scheduled a purse bid for Sept. 25 at 12 p.m. ET at its offices in Springfield, New Jersey, although the sides could make a deal up to 15 minutes before the bids are unsealed.
However, according to information, it is unlikely the fight will not happen because Garcia has been pursuing a fight with welterweight titlist Errol Spence for late this year or in early 2019.
Garcia won the IBF belt after beating Robert Easter Jnr. via unanimous decision.
Commey also earned the right to challenge for the belt after stopping Alejandro Luna in round 6.
