Richard Commey and Robert Easter Jr. purse bid is set for today (March 26th) at the IBF headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey, USA.
Two weeks ago, the IBF ordered Easter who currently holds the lightweight belt to defend it against Commey after the Ghanaian stopped Alejandro Luna in round six.
In a letter sent to Easter, the IBF said Easter’s team should complete negotiations with Commey’s team before April 12th or purse bid would be called.
However, Commey’s team sent a letter to the IBF saying they are unwilling to negotiate the fight and requested an immediate purse bid, which is allowable under the organization’s rules.
So the IBF notified its registered promoters that the purse bid to determine promotional control of the fight is scheduled for March 26 at noon ET.
In September 2016, Easter got dropped by Commey but eked out a split decision to win the vacant title.
