Breaking News: Ghana’s Gabriel Odoi Laryea losses to his Philipino Counterpart Albert Pagara
Ghana’s Gabriel Odoi was completely floored by his compatriot Albert Pagara
(30-1,21 KOs) in the third round for the vacant WBO Intercontinental Super Bantamweight championship earlier today at the Maasin City Gym, in the Philipines.
The Ala boxing star Albert ‘Prince’ Pagara stopped the bout in the third round of the encounter via a TKO in a fight that was dominated by the newest WBO Intercontinental Super Bantamweight champion.
The Cebu City pugilist cornered the Ghaianan with some few body shots that unsettled Odoi. He kept pressuring the Ghanaian until his corner men threw in the towel.
Odoi who went into the fight with a record of 19 victories 14 by way of KOs with three defeats was simply dominated by his Philipino counterpart who had the home crowd cheering with every single action.
Gabriel Odoi Laryea’s last fight was almost seven months ago and that was against Billy Quaye which he won via a seventh round TKO (14/10/2017).
Ironically, Albert Pagara’s solitary defeat came at the hands of a certain Cesar Juarez who was equally whitewashed by a Ghanaian, the current WBO champion Isaac Dogboe.
Albert Pagara’s last fight was on the 25th November 2017 which was against Mohammed Kambuluta of Tanzania. The young Tanzania was floored in the second round.
What was clear in that fight is the fact that Odoi was very nervous throughout the encounter and never really settled into his game, perhaps the more reason Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU) must be assisted to provide morale support for these boxers in their travels.
