The fight between Mikey Garcia and Richard Commey will not happen after the former vacated the IBF belt, Boxinghana.com can report.
A purse bid was billed for today but was canceled after Garcia vacated the belt.
Commey will be ordered to face the next rated contender, Russia’s Isa Chaniev.
Garcia, who still holds the WBC lightweight belt, is likely headed to a welterweight fight with titlist Errol Spence Jr. instead of another lightweight defense.
It’s the second IBF belt Garcia has vacated in recent months. He also gave up its junior welterweight title rather than face mandatory challenger Ivan Baranchyk, who won that vacant belt Saturday.
