A statement signed by GBA President Peter Zwennes read:

The Executive Board of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) on behalf of all Members and Stakeholders of the Boxing Fraternity wishes Super Middleweight Boxer Habib Ahmed all the very best in his WBO Super Middleweight World Title Fight against the Champion Gilberto Ramirez which takes in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the United States of America, on Saturday the 3rd day of February 2018.

The GBA has since the news of the fight was made public been monitoring the training sessions of Habib Ahmed under the tutelage of the very respected Coach Ofori Asare ans has ho doubt about his capabilities, level of fitness and preparedness for the this all important fight.

The GBA is therefore hopeful that Habib Ahmed will defy all the odds associated with fighting away from home and put up a vintage performance to clinch a decisive victory and bring the World Title to Ghana just as his predecessors before him D.K. Poison, Azumah Nelson, Nana Yaw Konadu, Ike Quartey, Alfred Kotey, Joseph Agbeko and Joshua Clottey have done.

Go Habib go. Lift high the flag, Make us proud and restore our pride as a great boxing nation.
