Boxing Gets No Support In Ghana – Commey

Lightweight contender, Richard Commey, is unhappy as to how the nation has rejected boxing and spend lots of money in football.

Football is regarded as passion of the nation but boxing has won a lot of laurels comparing the two sports.

And according to Commey, it is not fair that most of the money goes into football while boxing gets little support.

“Right now, most or nearly all of the money goes into football which I do not believe is fair as football gets enough money,” he told Fight Talk.

He continued, “But boxing is massive in Ghana and gets none or very little support. Winning a world title will be great for the country and will help to bring awareness to attract more funding and sponsorship into the sport back home.”

The James Town native is in line for a rematch with IBF lightweight beltholder Robert Easter Jnr.

Commey set up a rematch with Easter after destroying Alejandro Luna in round six last month.
