Six boxers and four officials of the junior national boxing team, Black Bombers B left Accra last night to participate in the Bocskai Istvan memorial international boxing tournament in Debrecen, Hungary.
The Ghanaian team which includes Shakul Samed, kid brother of the Samir brothers, head straight into the tournament which runs from today, 6 to 11 February 2018 and is under the auspices of the Hungary Boxing Association.
The junior Black Bombers were led by Abdul Samadu Mohammed, Vice-President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) with Coach Charles Quartey in charge of the young boxers for who the exposure and competition is expected to hone their budding skills in preparation to take over from the regular Black Bombers team who are currently camping in Cape Coast ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia in April.
“We thank the Hungarian embassy in Ghana for their help in getting us to this tournament, it comes at the right time for this young boxers to gain much needed international exposure and also train and fight with better facilities,” Abdul Samadu Mohammed said.
“We know how good they are, we believe they will win gold medals to make Ghana proud and also get us invited to more such competitions in future,” the GBF Vice-President added.
