All you need to know about Ghana’s Isaac Paa Kwesi Ankrah the ‘Valcano’

Defeated Ghanaian boxer Paa Kwesi Ankrah alias the ‘Volcano’ is a 38 year old Ghanaian boxer born in Ghana.

Born in 1979-08-06, Paa Kwesi started boxing in Ghana and had his breakthrough as professional boxer in March 2007 against Henry Mobbio of the Ivory Coast when his corner had to stop the fight (RTD) because of a purported injury.

He lost to the southpaw Joseph Chingangu of Zambia in March 1st 2008 for the vacant African boxing union heavyweight title.

Isaac Paa Kwesi Ankrah shattered the debut of Ghana’s Husseini Kpenzi in the second round via a TKO on the 22nd November, 2008. Since then Husseini is yet to win a single fight after 10 attempts. After the victory, Paa Kwesi lost on the double against Prince George Akrong and Flo Simba of South Africa via a first round TKO.

He resurrected his career in 2012 with some resounding victories against the likes of Bob Rashid on September the 7th and Francis Manda who had three wins against 14 losses with nine coming by way of TKO’s.

His best spell came in the year 2013 where he defeated George Smart, Mukadi Olaide, Hussan Murray, Ibrahim Marshal and Sylvanus Allotey. His winning streak was however halted by Nigeria’s Olanrewaju Durodola on 23rd August, 2015.

The ‘Volcano’ recovered well against Kwesi Tutu, Solomon Adama, Joseph Akapkpo and then Sylvanus Allotey.
He fought Kwesi Tutu again in September, 2017 with a convincing victory before losing to undefeated Russian Ruslan Fayfer (22-0, 15KOs) via a second round TKO on November 3rd 2017.

India’s Brijesh Kumar Meena floored the Ghanaian in the third round (RTD) of the scheduled bout, but a career saving victory against Jones Quarshie via 7th round TKO helped savage his pugilism career.

The latest defeat to 48 year old undefeated Turkish prodigy Firat Arslan is his very latest setback.

Isaac Paa Kwesi Ankrah was vying for the vacant WBO Inter- Continental Cruiserweight title but failed in the first round via a TKO by Firat.
