The Ghana Boxing (Amateur) Federation is organising a National Individual Boxing championship at the Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium from Thursday 4th to Saturday 6th October 2018.

According to the GBF President, all regions are invited to participate, and the programme is to select and form the new Black Bombers, the national team who would be groomed for the 2020 Olympic Games and other international tournaments.

He said recent developments have proved that there are many boxers who are training very hard to enter the camp of the national team.

Mr. George Lamptey hinted that the nation is highly respected for boxing, but Ghana won only one bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games and prayed that the new team is going to prove better and win gold and silver on the international scene.

Coach Ofori Asare, the national boxing coach said it is good to get the core of the team at least two years to the Olympic Games, and that can assure the country of a medal.

He appealed to companies to support the Black Bombers, to motivate and inspire them to fight for the nation, than turn professional at an unripe age.

Meanwhile, plans are advanced for the Bukom Fist of Fury Boxing Championships and BoxBiz Extravaganza.

The Fist of Fury will precede with a media and ring officials seminar on Thursday at the Bukom Boxing Arena, then a massive float and street carnival at Chorkor and James Town over the week end, before the main event on October 12, 2018.
