Corporal Lawson, who also doubles as the current Ghana National Super Welterweight champion has expressed excitement about his success.

Lawson currently has a professional record of 6 fights with no loss. As an  amateur, Musah won a medal for Ghana at the Africa Boxing Championship in 2015.

On 3rd of February, Lawson together with his trainer and promoter presented his title to the Ghana Prisons Service.

A news release on the official social media handle of Prisons Service reads

“Corporal Lawson Presents National Title Belt to Director General

Corporal Musah Lawson has today the 3rd of February, 2022, presented the National Super Welterweight Boxing Title to the Director General of Prisons Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra.”

“Corporal Lawson, a Prisons Officer and a professional boxer, stationed at the Prisons Officer Training School, was adjudged the National Super Welterweight champion when he defeated Victus Kemavor at the Bukom Boxing Arena on the 12th of December, 2021.”

Present at the brief presentation ceremony were the Officer in charge of Sports at the Prisons Headquarters, DSP. Seth Fianko Mante, Boxing Promoter Alexander Ntiamoah of Box Office Promotions and Boxing Trainer Suleman Korley.”

 

In his own words, he said “I feel very glad and over joy for achieving this because life is all about achieving and improving on yourself, so winning the national title is like a stepping stone for me to achieve more in this my professional career”.

 

Lawson won the vacant title on Box Office Promotions fight listed on boxrec to have happen on December 24, 2021. He noted that plans are under way for him to make a return to defend his title this February or later in the year.

 

After his defense, he will set his sight on the Africa level to continue making Ghana proud and soon conquer the world stage.

 

He further expressed his gratitude to his team

 

“I always give thanks to God and one special father and coach Dr. Ofori Asare who really helped me through my amateur career and groomed me up to this level in life, I can never forget all the advice and encouraging words he gives me in the gym”
