For Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder is trying to fight rusty Tyson Fury who went into a mini retirement for three years away from pugilism in order to improve his profile.
“I know the strategy is for him to fight Fury after a three-year lay-off. He’s got a good chance of beating him.” The Nigerian born British boxer stated.
‘It will boost his profile so when he comes back to the negotiating table he will have a better leg to stand on. The current undefeated heavyweight champion stated.
When quizzed about Fury’s strategy, Anthony Joshua replied by saying
“Tyson Fury’s strategy is to put some money in the bank after a three-year lay-off. He’ll continue talking rubbish as he does. In the long run, thunder strikes and it continues to strike. Joshua confidently reiterated
The British boxer also refuted the notion that the two boxers have stolen the limelight from him.
‘It’s not like they’ve stolen the limelight. There’s enough on the table for everyone to eat, in my opinion.’ Joshua Said.
He went further to talk about the possible match-up between Wilder and himself.
‘I’ve been trying to get a fight with Wilder, it’s been ongoing for a long time. It feels very difficult.
Remember we’ve been negotiating since I fought (Carlos) Takam last year.”
Finally, He told boxing fans to be expectant of a likely bout between himself and Deontay Wilder.
“We (Wilder and Himself) have to fight, there are no two ways about it.” Joshua stated.
The current IBF, WBA (Super) and WBO champion was to fight Deontay Wilder but was ordered by the sanctioning body WBA to fight Alexander Povetkin who is his mandatory challenger…. but many are of the firm opinions that he simply avoided the hardtalking American.
