Group managing director of Matchroom Sport, Eddie Hearn recently stated Team Wilder’s attempts of avoiding their calls and messages for a possible showdown between the two heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
“Unfortunately [I have] to report that so far despite three, four emails, dozens of phone calls, we haven’t had one response from Deontay Wilder’s team.” Eddie stated.
According to Eddie Hearn the WBC Heavyweight Champion Wilder is refusing to negotiate a possible match-up with the current unified heavyweight champion, Nigerian born Brits, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua.
Joshua holds three of the four major championships belts and is hoping to fully unify the WBC title.
Dillian Whyte, a boxer who is aspiring to fight Anthony Joshua equally took a dig at him for cherry picking.
“I called him out there live thinking the fight -could be made and I was very disappointed with Anthony’s response. I was ready for him to say ‘Okay, let’s get it on’.
“Wilder is not going to fight him (Anthony Joshua) because he doesn’t want it and is fighting Tyson Fury.” White stated.
Dillian Whyte equally feels that Anthony Joshua is just full of excuses
“He had whatever excuse he had for why the Wilder fight didn’t happen,” Whyte added. “First he said he wanted to fight Tyson Fury before Tyson Fury came back. But now Tyson Fury has come back with a good performance against Wilder all of a sudden he is saying ‘Oh, now I want to fight Wilder because Tyson Fury lost’. Dillian Whyte Said.
It is still unclear if Eddie Hearn’s statement that Wilder is avoiding his boxer Anthony Joshua is true or otherwise since Team Wilder is yet to respond.
