In an interview with SkySports, the WBC heavyweight titlist Deontay Leshun Wilder tauted former WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight Anthony Joshua, predicting a win for the underdog Andy Ruiz in their impending rematch.
“Even if he (Joshua) loses the rematch, which I feel he will. It is not over for Anthony. Just because you lose, it doesn’t mean it’s over.
The man particularly known for his formidable punching power made a scathing remark on Joshua branding him a ‘quitter’
“I don’t think he knows how he lost. He was knocked down four times. He gave up, in my opinion.”
“I was happy for Andy, for where the guy came from. Like a lot of us fighters, he was looking for the lottery tickets.
“He said: ‘mama, we ain’t got to struggle any more’.
“That touched me because we all come from some type of place. We are all trying to support our families. We are all looking for the meal ticket.” The two-time Premier Boxing Champions Knockout of the Year award winner expressed.
The American heavyweight champion, Wilder nicknamed “The Bronze Bomber” after winning the bronze at the 2008 Olympics, also made his position clear on a possible fight with Anthony in the future
“People ask, ‘Are you still going to fight AJ?’. Just because someone loses doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road. That’s how you become a two-time, three-time, four-time champion.” He said.
“Before I retire, I want to be able to say I fought the best, all of the best, no matter who they were, if they had a buzz and people wanted to see that fight.” The American reiterated.
