World Boxing Organisation Africa Super Bantamweight Titlist Ghana’s Wasiru Mohammed is ready for his first defense and an opportunity to win the WBO Global strap come next week Saturday the 15th of June at the Accra Sports Stadium when he fights Loren Japhet from Tanzania.
Wasiru became the WBO Africa Super Bantamweight Champion after defeating former Champion Isaac Sackey in October last year. The victory, immediately took him to number 14th (#14) position on the WBO World Rankings and Ghana’s number 1 in the Super Bantamweight Division.
A source close to the young power boxer says the Ghanaian is relishing his return to the ring and is already battle-ready for his opponent.
The self styled ‘Gyata Bi’ fights on 15th June at the Accra Sports Hall in the Accra Sports Stadium, and at stake is the WBO Global Title.
Wasiru ( 10 -0, 9KOs) has so far fought 10 bouts in 33 rounds of boxing with an admirable percentage ratio of 90, against Loren Japhet (9-2-2, 2 KOs) 13 bouts in 73 rounds of boxing with KOs percentage of 15.
Could Wasiru be the first Ghanaian Boxer to win a WBO Global Title in the bantamweight division since it was introduced last year? I guess your guess is as good as mine. We will find out on June 15th.
E&J Boxing Promotions which is co-owned by Elis Kwame Quashigah and John Owiredu Manfo are the promoters of this impending fight.
More details of the fight is set to follow soon.
