Former WBO Global Super Bantamweight champion Wasiru “GyataBi” Mohammed has bitterly slammed his manager Mr John Marfo after news circulated on the media that the highly rated junior featherweight prospect has left his camp without any notice.
According to the Head trainer of the Fit Square Boxing Club, Mr. Lartekwei Lartey in a story published on boxinghana.com on July 12, Wasiru Mohammed had refused to answer their calls as well as they don’t know his whereabouts.
“We don’t know where he is at the moment because he has been avoiding our calls,” Coach Lartey told the Graphic Sports.
“I don’t understand him anymore because he has stopped training with us. The best thing to do now is to strip him of his title so he would come back to his senses.” Mr. Lartekwei suggested.
From our checks on Boxrec.com, Wasiru ‘Gyata Bi’ Mohammed has therefore been stripped off the WBO Global Super Bantamweight title, hence making the strap vacant.
In a long statement by the former WBO African and Global champion via his facebook handle, Wasiru poured out his frustration with his manager stating the kind of treatments he’s gone through under Mr John Manfo.
“Good morning,to all my lovely fun’s . I have seen post speculating on social media about me.Am not missing and you people know my door step. Stop spoiling my name to the world because you people are evil 😈people.” Wasiru disclosing that his management knows his where about refuting earlier claims made that he’s no where to be found.
The post continued, “Mr John (his manager) don’t pay me and no respect from other coach’s you people are more-treated me and take me as slave. Each time I fight I will be given small money and the opponent will take big money this is stupid. The most painful part is after signing the USA contract,we asked the manager give us the copy and he said no someone will come to our room and steal from us as for their own contract they give it to us but for the USA they said no that means I am a fool.”
Wasiru continued, revealing that his family has been disrespected by his management and therefore has been advised pertaining to what he’s been going through.
“please you are not the one whom give brith to me even my mother and my big bro you people don’t respect them . No matter what they are my family and blood and I will listen to them because my future is not in your hands Mr John. You are evil 👿 please I don’t want to work with you again…”
It is indeed very disturbing to know of this revelation from the promising and talented boxer is just 25years old. Its even more disturbing to know that the passion of boxing has been quenched from the heart of the young champion. If the passion is not quenched, how can you describe this statement from Wasiru
“…am not interested in boxing anymore…”
Whiles many boxing followers have been rooting the power puncher Wasiru to earn a world title shot very soon, the hopes for that opportunity according to the boxer himself has been washed away indicating that he’s hanged his gloves never to return again in the square ring.
The unbeaten African warrior Wasiru (12-0, 11KOs) undoubtedly won a lot of hearts with his talent and skills earning fans and support from many connoisseurs of the game. Early this year in January, Mohammed Wasiru secured a contract deal with American promoter Cameron Dunkin, of D&D Boxing.
The American Promoter is best known for working with the likes of Kelly Pavlik, Tim Bradley, Nonito Donaire, Jaron Ennis and Brandun Lee among his clients made this statement about Wasiru
“I saw a video of Wasiru a while ago and I was really impressed. I used my contacts to locate Wasiru and we were able to quickly work out a deal.
“Wasiru is an exciting fighter, with really good power, and I think he’s a great addition to our stable.”
What will be going on in the hearts of the younger boxers who has been looking up to Wasiru Mohammed? What deal was actually made with Wasiru by his management? What kind of deals are the young boxers in Ghana contracted to?
Does the Ghana Boxing Authority see to what offers are made to the boxers. Is there a regulatory body under the GBA umbrella that see to the welfare of its boxers?
A star of Ghana and Africa has gone deem, must we dumpen the hopes of our young talents who begin their career with big dreams?
Let’s wake up from our slumber Oh Ghana 🇬🇭!
