Tyson Fury has hit back at American Deontay Wilder over his recent tweet against him insinuating that he is ‘ducking’ after Fury recently agreed an £80million deal for five fights with ESPN, complicating a possible rematch as earlier agreed because Showtime and ESPN are sworn competitive rivals.
“Get yourself a bit more well known in America first kid and then I’ll give you another chance. I already beat you and the world knows it and so do you. It must be hard for you that a British fighter has taken over the USA.” Fury responded.
Earlier when the World Boxing Council (WBC) announced of the official cancellation of the rematch, the tweet said: “BREAKING NEWS: @BronzeBomber vs
@Tyson_Fury is officially not happening next. The
@WBCBoxing has received communications as our process and while Wilder confirmed its willingness to fight the rematch, Fury will take on another fight with expectations to
do rematch at a later date.” WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman equally confirmed the tweet.
But the American Deontay Wilder who was hoping for a rematch, felt disappointed on hearing the cancellation. Wilder took to twitter to express his anger and disappointment.
“You sorry muthaf****. We knew you only said this because you knew you wasn’t fighting me
next. You requested a warm-up fight first – I don’t blame you though, I probably would too if I saw my brains splashed all over the canvas.” Wilder mocked.
Many boxing fans and connoisseurs of the game are pretty skeptical of a possible rematch between Wilder and Joshua anytime soon but Frank Warren who is Tyson Fury’s promoter insisted the Wilder-Fury rematch remains likely in the future.
