The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports has rewarded Tokyo 2020 Olympic Bronze medalist Samuel Takyi with a brand new car.
Takyi, 21, who was Ghana’s sole medalist at the Global Games was presented with a brand new Nissan Sunny car worth $20,000.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Mustapha Ussif on Thursday presented the package to the young boxer.
The donation was in fulfillment of the government’s promise of $50,000 to the boxer.
Takyi was presented with an additional $10,000 and a further $20,000 for his professional and career development.
Takyi, an amateur boxer with the boxing team who won Ghana a bronze medal for the first time since 1992.
The young boxer has expressed his readiness to go professional and is expected to make his professional debut early next year.
