Ghana’s Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey is the only Black Bomber standing at the Indoor Arena at the HuamarkStadium, Bangkok in Thailand as he won today.

The African Olympic Qualifiers in Dakar Bronze Medalist who also won a Bronze at the 13th African Games is a product of Coach Dr. Ofori Asare’s Wisdom Boxing Gym.

He is now the hope of Ghana and the Ghana Boxing Federation for a slot to Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

THEOPHILUS KPAKPO ALLOTEY won in a 4-1 split decision against Anvarzhan Khadzhiev of Kyrgyzstan in the men’s Flyweight -51Kg to advance into the R16 and now have to win 2 more bouts for a slot to Paris Olympic games.

Coming up next for Ghana is the Women’s Middleweight -75Kg (Rd 16) – 01/06/2024, Ghana’s ORNELLA SATHOUD will face Aynur Rzayeva (Azerbaijan). She needs two more wins to qualify.

The Black Bombers who are out of the Paris Dream are Amadu Mohammed(Featherweigt – 57Kg), Joseph Commey(Featherweight -63.5Kg), Henry Malm(Light Middleweight -71Kg), Jonathan Tetteh(Heavyweight -92Kg) and Mark Kojovi Ahondjo(Super Heavyweight -92+kg).

Team Leader Dauda Fuseni said the Bombers must be commended because other teams were highly motivated. He thanked the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President and the Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports Hon. Evans Bobie for coming over to Bangkok to inspire the boxers.

“Infact we have learnt a lot. Others have gone a long way ahead, and we have to step up and be various with the game because it is serious business” he told Yours Truly in a telephone conversation.

Mr. Jojo Ephson, Communications Director of the GBF believes Ghana will certainly qualify with one or two boxers.

“It has been a very tough route to Paris 2024, but we are on course from Dakar, Senegal to Italy to Bangkok, Thailand, one or two will make it” he assured.
