The Secretary-General of Africa Boxing Union (ABU), Maureen Mulangira, said today they’re all set to host the ABU Convention next month in Kampala.

It will take place between August 18 to 23 at the Africana Hotel.

“We’re ready for this important function in Africa boxing, we will have a number of activities to coincide with the convention,” said Mulangira who’s also the treasurer of Uganda Professional Boxing Commission, WBC board member and co-chair WBC Cares African Chapter.

“We shall also have a ABC/WBC ring officials seminar conducted by a WBC ring officials’ trainer from Italy,” said Mulangira, adding a professional fight is also in the works.

“We”re waiting for the promoter to finalise everything and then announce the details.”

Mulangira shared some of the convention’s highlights:

▪️There will be communication from the WBC President delivered by the ABU President.
▪️ The ABU President will give his personal communication.
▪️ We shall discuss WBC – Africa, ABU & Region Championships.
▪️The fact that professional boxing is business, so many rules & regulations keep changing to suit the interests of all the involved parties. All these changes will be tabled and discussed.
▪️ We shall look at the boxers’ ratings generally.
