The Black Bombers left Ghana with a promise to Ghanaians and paticularly to the coach with a promise to win him a medal to honour him for his selfless support and guidance.
The Tokyo Olympics started with good news as two Bombers drew bye to qualify to the round of 16 as the skipper had to battle his way through.
As the Skipper, Sulemanu Tetteh and Shakul Samed Bastir bowed out in the flyweight and light heavyweight division respectively, Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi took on the mantle with the support of his coach and teammates as he battled to the medal zone.
Mounting the podium for his bronze medal, Samuel Takyi honoured his coach, Dr. Ofori Asare for his support through their time in Ghana and at Tokyo.
In a speech, Samuel Takyi stated, “I promised you Gold, but i have won a bronze and it is all thanks to your technical support. Having you in our corner was already a motivation.”
The fulfilled Coach Asare in via instagram expressed delight shared, “A proud moment for me as Samuel Takyi adorns me with his medal in appreciation.
I am grateful that i have been able to achieve something for my country. God bless our homeland Ghana.”
His later comments urged Ghanaians to support Ghana Boxing.
