Today, Boxing Ghana has decided to celebrate one of such ring icons who is fast establishing his peerless credentials all over Ghana and Africa as a ring announcer He is Mohammed Amin Lamptey ‘The Sheikh.’
Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Indeed, like the rising star, the very affable sports journalist and lecturer is an astute boxing ring announcer in Ghana pushing the sub regional body and the entire African Boxing spec to the world.
WHO IS THE MAN MOHAMMED AMIN LAMPTEY?
Mohammed Amin Lamptey was born in Accra Ghana.
An African version of Michael Buffer, Amin Lamptey is married with three kids (two boys and a girl).
The famed ring announcer had his primary education at Ecoule Jean Jacque Rossou, a French School at Kotobabi and his Elementary days at the Kanda 3&4 Cluster of schools near GBC.
He later attended City of Ghana Academy and studied Electrical Engineering from the year 1988 to 1990.
He obtained his Diploma in Journalism/Communication at Manifold Tutorial College in Accra from 1999 to 2001.
The affable ring annoucer has a Degree in Marketing at the Kings University College, Aplaku which is affliated to the University of Cape Coast and as expected has secured his Master of Arts in Public Relations at the Ghana Institute of Journalism obtained in 2017.
Mohammed Amin Lamptey is currently pursuing his Mphil in Business Communication Studies at the University of Education-Winneba in the central region of Ghana.
The dynamic ring annoucer has served many National portfolios including Chairman of Youth and Sports Sub Committee, Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA).
He equally served as the Communications Director for the Ghana Boxing Authority(GBA) as well as the Deputy Communications Director, – Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana(PAOG).
The enigmatic ‘Sheikh’ as nicknamed by friends and associates, has equally tested the pleasure of serving Private Offices. Mentions could be made of Mitdjiland FC, Tudu Mighty Jets, Marwako Foods and Zaituna FC all in the capacity of a Public Relations Officer.
He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of HUSSFATI Media consult and a Part-Time Lecturer at the Islamic University College of Ghana.
Amin Lamptey was one time the Head of Sports at Choice FM and Top Radio as well as a former Sports Commentator(Boxing and Football) at Metro TV.
Amongst some of the journos he has groomed in Ghana includes Dennis Moore, Sammy ofosuhene etc.
The seasoned sports analyst enjoys Tuo Zaafi with green soup and Fufu with light soup as his favourite local dishes.
His favourite Ghanaian pugilist of all time happens to be the only professor in boxing, Azuma Nelson.
‘Sheikh’ is a very business minded person and with bulk marketing background.
Guess what, The football cum boxing commentator still harbours the ambition of grabbing his PhD by the year 2023.
