Team Ghana begins quest for medals at the African Games in Morocco

Prince Moulay Rachid officially opened the 12th African Games, commencing from 19th to 31st August, 2019 in Rabat, Morocco, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. And already, Ghana’s Black Bombers begin the medal journey today with some interesting pairings.

At the Men’s fly weight 52kg, young prospect Sulemanu Tetteh drew a bye in the preliminary rounds today as he awaits an opponent for the second round.

Also at the Men’s Light Heavy 81kg, Jean Jovet Nicol of the Seychelles will fight Samed Shakul of Ghana, in the hours of 6:00 PM (GHANA TIME 5:00 PM)

In the other bout, Akankolim David Bawah (Ghana) vs Benchabla Abdelhafid (Algeria). – 6:00PM ( GH 5:00 PM ) in the Men’s Heavy Weight 91kg.

Team Ghana is confident of winning more medals in the competition. A belief which has been rechoed by the gaffer of the boxing team the Black Bombers, Coach Ofori Asare.

“Each boxer is determined to win a medal at the games and the high morale in camp together with massive training regimen. We are on course to win at least 5 medals”, Coach Asare promises.

This will be the first time the African Games will be hosted by Morocco following the country’s readmission to the African Union.
