South Africa’s captain John Paul Masamba (pictured) took it easy against Zambia’s Emmanuel Katema to set up a semi-final clash against Kenya’s Vincent Ochieng.

He was relaxed but the aggressor enroute to a deserved points win over the African Games silver medallist. Boxing flat-footed, Masamba threw punches in bunches. For every two or more punches from Katema, Masamba replied with double the number.

“With the big boys in light-welter class not here, I want to make these boys feel important, of course I’m not underrating anybody,” he said, adding:”To me it was just like a sparring session.”
