Facing off Jean Carlos Caicedo of Ecuador was a scare to many Ghanaian supporters, but Takyi had another thing coming. He decimated and stamped his authority in the ring, throwing power punches from the start of the first till the final round.

The fury in his eyes before the bout were released on the Ecuadorian who did not find an antidote to the dynamism of the Ghanaian on a mission.

The commentator trying to find words to describe the technique of the ‘Ring Warrior’ said Takyi is “ferociously enterprising”.

After the three rounds of boxing, Samuel ‘Ring Warrior’ Takyi won by a 5-0 unanimous decision to qualify to the quarter finals and an urge closer to the medal zone.

Ghanaians could not stop to express their delight and continued to wish the entire team the best on their quest to win laurels for the country.
