Classy Ring Announcer Samuel Opoku Amoah, known in Boxing Circles as Sam Nana Gold has been voted as the Best Ring Announcer in Ghana in 2024.
The awards scheme, put together by Boxing Ghana, seeks to recognise individuals and outfits that have contributed immensely and diversely to catalyse the growth of the pugilistic sport in Ghana and beyond.
Samuel Opoku Amoah is also a prolific Boxing Writer, commentator and Boxing Agent.
He won the Best Boxing Writer Award in Ghana in 2023.
In his late thirties, “Sam Nana Gold ” has graced several major boxing events in the year under review including Sharaf Mahama’s Legacy Rise (Ultimate Legacy), the Ghana Professional Boxing League by Imax Promotions, Fists Of Carnage by Box Office Promotions, Street To Champions by ACE Power Promotions, Showdown In Kumasi by Osibor Boxing Promotions, Abeka Fight Night, Sunyani Fight Night and many others.
Samuel Opoku Amoah has travelled to different regions in Ghana announcing boxing bouts and helping promote the sport.
His dedication, dexterity and delectable delivery has endeared him to boxers and boxing fans alike, who voted massively to earn him the prestigious award.
Among nominees for the award were industry gurus like Nathaniel Attoh, Amin Lamptey and GBF treasurer Mustapha Nettey.
“I’m humbled by the win, because all the other nominees are my seniors in the game.
Mustapha Nettey gave me the first chance to climb a ring at Akropong in 2021 by the recommendation of Alex Ntiamoah.
He thanked all well wishers and expressed special appreciation to Isaac Amankwaah of ACE Power Promotions for spotting him and offering him the first opportunity to host a boxing press conference at the La Palm Royal Beach Resort in 2021, and ACE Power CEO Adae Opoku Amoako .
He also thanked Alhaji Muritala Tofik (GBA chairman of promotions), John Manfo (GBA Executive Board) and Ghana Boxing Authority President for their roles in his journey.
Sammy Heywood Okine (General 1) and Lawrence Carl Lokko of the Bronx Boxing Gym also helped shape him up in various ways.
Samuel Opoku Amoah (Sam Nana Gold) is also a language tutor, a preacher and happily married with two kids.
The young announcer has been very instrumental in the careers of many boxers including John Zile, Ashanti Warrior (Stanley Nyantakyi) and Jon Power.
