Richard Lartey versus Top Rank Signee Damian Knyba set for July 6 cancelled.
Boxing Ghana can confirm that the impending and highly anticipated fight between Ghana’s former WBO Africa Heavyweight Champion Richard Lartey versus his nemesis from Poland Damian Knypa has been called off indefinitely.
The fight was christened as one of the undercards of Shakur Stevenson versus Artem Harutyunyan at the Prudential Center, Newark, on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
It is unclear the reason assigned but news reaching Boxing Ghana has it that the feverish preparations and camping of Richard Lartey is sending some cold feet at the camp of Knyba.
Lartey, a former WBO Africa Heavyweight Champion who recently registered his maiden victory in the United States against Andrzej Wawrzyk, is on a mission to solidify his name in the annals of Ghana, Africa and indeed world Heavyweight boxing.
Damian Knyba, a 6-foot-7 undefeated young Heavyweight boxer with TopRank, carries a record of 13 victories, 7 by way of knockouts with 56 rounds of professional boxing action.
The fight was scheduled live on USA ESPN and Lartey was looking forward to prove his mettle and continue his back-to-back victories.
