Richard Lartey to fight Top Rank Signee Damian Knypa in a mega fight come July
Ghana’s Richard Harrison Nii Lartey famed Richard Lartey is set to fight Polish top-rank signee Damian Knyba on the undercard of Shakur Stevenson versus Artem Harutyunyan at the Prudential Center, Newark, come Saturday, July 6, 2024.
Lartey, a former WBO Africa Heavyweight Champion who recently registered his maiden victory in the United States against Andrzej Wawrzyk, is on a mission to solidify his name in the annals of Ghana and Africa Heavyweight boxing.
Damian Knyba, a 6-foot-7 undefeated young Heavyweight boxer with TopRank, carries a record of 13 victories, 7 by way of knockouts with 56 rounds of professional boxing action, must go past his realist and biggest fight in his young career in Richard Lartey.
The fight is scheduled live on USA ESPN and is perhaps one of the biggest platforms for Lartey to prove his mettle and continue his back-to-back victories.
The Ghanaian power puncher, who currently resides in New York and trains with the astute world championship coach Andre Rozier, is very optimistic about victory when Boxing Ghana’s Sammy Ofosuhene caught up with him.
The self-styled ‘Polish Hussar’ Knyba, is yet to fight a proven championship boxer and faces a big task in Richard Lartey, a man on a mission to set the records straight.
Damian Knyba’s last fight was against Michael Polite Coffie (13-4), before that was Helaman Olguin (9-5-1), Curtis Harper (14-8), Emilio Salas (7-3-1), Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko (9-10-1), Santander Silgado Gelez( 31-12), Terrell Jamal Woods ( 28-50-9), Knife Didier ( 6-6), Aazddin Aajour (5-2-2), Yury Bykhautsou (10-23-3), Giorgi Tamazashvili ( 3-7), Igor Pylypenko ( 5-52-2) and Petr Frohlich (2-31-1) respectively.
Indeed, it is pretty obvious that the listed fighters are all journeymen and not upto the levels of Richard Lartey who has fought the likes of Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley, Nathan Gorman and the rest. A world championship level fighters and gave them a run for their money
