Daniel Dubois and team are scared to the core in their impending fight with the current World Boxing Organisation’s Africa heavyweight champion, Ghanaian, Harrison Lartey at Wembley Arena, Wembley, London, United Kingdom on April 27.
Richard Nii Lartey Harrison is the name, but strangely an audio, video circulating on YouTube that the Ghanaian has so many names and other range of unsubstantiated claims are laughable and a complete mischief by who ever is behind it. A simple check with boxrec or boxingghana.com could have cured this simple mischief.
It is not the case that Richard Lartey’ s Facebook page has not been updated for more than 3 months. It is a complete utter travesty of justice to suggest that his name must necessarily correspond with his Facebook identity. But then, if you care to know, it is “Richard Degreatt”. The last time I checked that was not a requirement for one to become a credible professional boxer.
They made the argument that Richard Nii Lartey Harrison cancelled his then impending fight against Joe Joyce at the final week. Oh really? Could you have imagine what would have happened? An African boxer cancelling a signed contract? The lawsuits alone…..Let’s set the record straight, because a simple check with Team Joe Joyce would have cured this absurdity.
Let it be stated that Joe Joyce was the one that cancelled the fight and not the other way round. Perhaps when they finally realised the enormity of the Richard Lartey’s challenge, decided to back down at the final weeks.
They claim Richard Nii Lartey Harrison’s only fight away from home resulted in a defeat, and that they don’t think the Ghanaian is going to go through with the scheduled bout christened 27 April. Well, let it be known, that the Ghanaian has never backed down or out on any fight ever, rather the opposite. A typical example is the case of Joe Joyce.
Daniel Dubois may be good but he is certainly not an exceptional boxer. He is only a product of a proper British marketing and hype who is yet to fight a proven boxer like Richard Nii Lartey Harrison, famed Richard Lartey with a superb track record.
Queensberry Promotions owned by Frank Warren have always cherry picked fighters for the young inexperienced fighter Daniel Dubois, a product of good brand and proper marketing.
My lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, now the current vice chancellor once said “A consistent positioning creates an image” hence Team Dubois have consistently carried a myth by positioning in the minds of people that Daniel Dubois once knocked down Anthony Joshua in sparring. But that was only a myth “concorted” to help aid Daniel’s image.
Let’s check out his credentials, His last fight was against Razvan Cojanu for the vacant World Boxing Organisation European Heavyweight Title. Razvan had 15 victories and 5 defeats then. A boxer who was so vulnerable after back to back defeats.
His last but one fight was against American Kevin Johnson (34-13), The fight travelled the full 10 round contest with the so called hard puncher Daniel Dubois last year, 2018 at Leicester Arena, Leicester, Leicestershire, United Kingdom.
Daniel Dubois (10-0, 9 KOs) avoided 2016 Olympic silver medalist Joe Joyce (8-0, 8 KOs) at the final stages of a scheduled fight for reasons still unknown.
But Joe Joyce cancelled his fight against Richard Lartey in the final hours.
This fight should have earned Team Lartey, at least, a hundredand fifty thousand dollars, but as usual the gauntlet is always lowered when you are an African.
For many, Daniel Dubois should have remained an amateur, get exposed to more styles, more grounding away from the public eye.
Team Dubois’s biggest fear is the unknown. And yes indeed, Richard Lartey is no doubt the unknown customer whom they are struggling to get his fight videos and information in order to understudy him.
What is a fact is that Richard Nii Lartey Harrison must either get a knockout or avoid a close to call fight, because a lot will go against him especially because he is up against a whole institution led by the very powerful Frank Warren. But the African fights best when the odds are against him.
Underrate Richard Lartey at your own peril.
